    Interview Summary
    Jarmila Špírková, born in 1929 in Jihlava, Czechoslovakia, describes the prewar Jewish community of Jihlava and Trest; living in Trest during the war; friendly relations between her family and their Jewish neighbors; her father's work for a Jewish employer; restrictions placed upon the Jewish community during the war; the arrest of her father's Jewish employer in 1939 by the Gestapo; Jewish friends giving her family their personal belongings; attending school in Telc and Nove Mesto; her Jewish classmates; deportations of Jews from Jihlava and Trest; the survival of her father's Jewish employer's family; and the postwar execution of local collaborators.

    This is a witness interview of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Perpetrators, Collaborators, and Witnesses: The Jeff and Toby Herr Testimony Initiative, a multi-year project to record the testimonies of non-Jewish witnesses to the Holocaust.
