    Bernard Stone discusses his childhood in Warsaw, Poland; his education; his family life; his enlistment in the Polish Army in 1939; his deferment due to tuberculosis; his escape with his siblings to the Soviet Union; his experiences in the Soviet Union and the conditions, as well as his return to southeastern Poland; his move to Ukraine in 1943; his deportation to a labor camp by the Soviets and the work he performed; his return to Warsaw after the end of the war and the conditions there; his life after the war; his medical education in Munich, Germany; his marriage in 1948; his immigration to the United States with his wife in 1949; and their life in the US.

    The Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project conducted the interview with Bernard Stone on January 29, 2000. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the tapes of the interview from the Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project in December 2001.
