    Envelope sent by Philomena K. Malin to her family in Genoa, Wisconsin containing three black and white photographic prints which depicts victims of the Nordhausen concentration camp immediately following liberation; photographs captioned on verso; dated April 1945.

    Biography
    Philomena Malin was with the USO in Europe during WWII. She never spoke with her family about what she witnessed in the camp. After the war she had a career with the State Department, (she was fluent in Russian) and was stationed in Prague and Belgrade during the Cold War. Her family says that she reported directly to John Foster Dulles, and never spoke about her work. She passed away in 1970.
