    Biography
    Irene Lieblich (born Wechter) was the daughter of Dr. Leon and Chana (née Brondwajn) Wechter. She was born April 20, 1923 in Zamosc, Poland where her father worked in the medical profession as a country doctor in the Shtetls surrounding Zamosc. She had one younger brother, Nathan, who did not survive the Holocaust. Irene married Jacob Solomon Lieblich after the war in 1946. They immigrated to Chicago and then New York where she became a recognized and noted artist. She also was a personal friend of Isaac Bashevis Singer and illustrator of his works.
