    Gauleiter speaks; parade for NSDAP convention in Bad Zwischenahn

    Description
    Title, "Vorbeimarsch vor dem Gauleiter". A parade on June 4 at 3:30pm marches past Carl Röver, the Gauleiter of Weser-Ems from 1929 until his death in 1942. He is standing in a blue Mercedes. The Nazi District Administration headquarters building is behind the Gauleiter and adorned with Nazi flags and eagle insignias.

    00:03:42 A street sign points toward "Fährhaus." The parade includes World War One veterans, the Hitler Youth, mounted cavalry and soldiers from various military branches, the Deutsche Arbeitsfront, and the SS.

    00:07:47 Title, "Der Gauleiter spricht". Gauleiter Carl Röver speaks to a large gathering on June 4 at 4pm. He is standing on bleachers before a golden eagle symbol at the festival grounds.

    00:08:48 The gathering disperses. Military and other organizations march in rank and file. The Gauleiter sits for a meal with other party members. A parade with of men in uniform and the Hitler Youth march along an unknown cobbled street outside the bakery/cafe "Otto Gerdes" in the so-called marketplace curve (Am Brink).

    00:11:53 At Zwischenahn Lake, demonstrations of Seeflugstützpunktes (Airfield Rostrup) and the Zwischenahner sailing clubs on June 4 at 12-2 pm. A transport plane, likely a Ju-52, and three biplanes fly overhead.

    00:13:10 Title, "Zum Schluss: Das Prachtfeuerwerk". Fireworks burst against a night sky on June 4 at 10pm.

    Film Provenance
    Naomi Buck donated two 16mm film reels to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in March 2014. Naomi's uncle had received the films from his father, William Braden.
    Note
    NSDAP-Kreistags [Nazi Party Convention] on June 3 and 4, 1939 (Saturday and Sunday) in the town of Bad Zwischenahn, included a mass rally, morning celebration, speeches by State Professor Willy Borger and Gauleiter Karl Roever, the swearing-in of 500 NSKK men, youth sport competitions and events, and fireworks.     Handwritten on film can label: "Nazi Germany pre-war".
    Transferred at 15fps. Detailed notes about the camera used to film the event and the date codes on the original film are located in the files.
