    Biography
Eva Salier (1923-2014) was born Eva Hellendag on March 26, 1923 in Koblenz, Germany to Dutch merchant Simon Hellendag and his wife Antonie. As antisemitism rose under the Nazi regime, her father attempted to send her to England but died before he could succeed. In 1938 her mother sent her to the Netherlands. She was arrested by the Nazis and sent to the Vught concentration camp, where she worked in an electronics factory. She was then sent to the Hammer-Werk electronics factory at Porta Westfalica and then to Beendorf and Hamburg-Eiderstadt. She was liberated in May 1945.
