    Marianne Oelsner, born in 1922, discusses her childhood in Dortmund, Germany; her parents’ decision to send her to England in 1936 when life in Nazi Germany became untenable; her life in Cambridge, where she learned English and held several jobs; working at a daycare center and a munitions factory; cleaning homes on the weekends; her status as an "enemy alien" in England; joining her parents in La Paz, Bolivia after the war; meeting and marrying Helmut Oelsner in La Paz; and eventually immigrating to the United States.
