Shraga Weil papers
Document
The Shraga Weil papers consist of a diary, correspondence, documents, poems, photographs, and a book of printed drawings relating to the prewar and wartime experiences of Shraga Weil and his extended family. The diary, found by Shraga, is written in Hungarian and has an unknown author. The postcards, letters, and poetry were written by Shraga’s mother, Helena (Ilona) Tausig Weil, during the 1920s. Other documents include a temporary pass for lodging, travel permits from Budapest, Hungary to Czechoslovakia issued in 1946 by Delegate Ceskoslovensk for Shraga Weil and his wife, Eva, work documents, envelopes, a list of Shraga and Eva’s used clothing, and a JDC receipt for an army coat. Original photos include a portrait of Shraga, photographs from Belgium of Sara Weil with her parents in Bratislava before her Aliya to Palestine, and a 1947 photo taken by Z. Kluger on the opening day of Kibbutz HaOgen. Also included is a book of printed drawings owned by Engineer I. Weil (1889-1944) of Nitra, Bratislava (now Slovakia).
