- Event History
- The 45th Evacuation Hospital arrived at Buchenwald after liberation of the camp and was tasked with providing a range of care to newly liberated inmates. Their duties were soon directed to the treatment and evacuation of inmates suffering from tuberculosis. With the assistance of several prisoners who had been camp physicians, the 45th managed to prevent further spread of the disease and to vastly improve the quality of treatment that individuals received.
