"בילדותי, בבלגיה, גדלתי בלי שסובבו אותי קרובי משפחה, ללא סבים וסבתות, ללא דודים וללא בני דודים. רק אבא, אמא ואח. ההבדל ביני, היהודייה, ובין חברותי הגויות, המשופעות בדודים ובסבים, היה בולט, ומגיל צעיר הרגשתי את השוני ביני לבינן. במשך זמן רב חקרתי ודרשתי והיכן 'נעלמה' משפחתי הרחבה. לאט לאט הבנתי שבני משפחתי לא ניצלו מהשמד שנגזר על יהודי אירופה, וחלק נכבד מהם נספה בשואה. הספר מתאר את קורות בני המשפחה שנכללו בששת המיליונים שנספו בשואה, תוך ניסיון להפיח רוח ונשמה בנפשות שנעלמו בלא להותיר עקבות. בספר מתוארים גם אלה שניצלו מן השמד: אלה שניצלו מפני שאהבת ארץ-ישראל הביאתם לארץ בעוד מועד, ואלה שניצלו רק לאחר שעברו שבעת מדורי גיהנום באירופה הכבושה"--Back cover.
