Frank from 1940 developed a position of preeminence within the German Socialist exile community in America. This thesis examines his work with the US government, in the anti-Nazi movement, and in the founding of exile organizations in America. By exploring Frank's activities in America, this thesis also looks at the circumstances of the German Socialist exile community. It challenges the assertions made by previous chroniclers of the German Socialist exile experience that in America the German Socialist community ceased to exist. 530 Electronic version(s) |bavailable internally at USHMM. 533 Photocopy. |bAnn Arbor, Mich. : |cUMI Dissertation Services, |d2006. |e22 cm. 590 Dissertations and Theses 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 600 10 Frank, Karl Boromäus, |d1893-1969 |xPolitical activity. 650 0 Anti-Nazi movement |zUnited States. 610 20 Gruppe Neu Beginnen. 856 41 |uhttp://proquest.umi.com/pqdweb?did=766662491&sid=1&Fmt=6&clientId=54617&RQT=309&VName=PQD |zElectronic version from ProQuest 956 41 |u http://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib119774/1417254.pdf |z Hosted by USHMM. 994 C0 |bLHM 852 0 |bstacks |hDD256.3 |i.D68 2003 852 |bwww 852 0 |bebook
