- Summary
- In Feb. 1945 at the Mauthausen concentration camp, 500 Soviet POWs await execution for their refusal to fight on the side of the German Wehrmacht. Facing certain death, they attempt a daring and nearly successful escape. During the same night, the SS order the village inhabitants to "Hunt the prisoners down like rabbits." Only 9 prisoners survive the escape.
