Publication | Library Call Number: DVD-0947
Book cover

Set in Berlin in 1933, the film tells of the problems facing Germany's Jews after Hitler's rise to power through the story of a Jewish artist and professor, Arthur Levi. After his new painting, The Eternal Wanderer, is rejected by the academy and he is fired from his position, Levi's German fiancee leaves him. The figure of his father, the model for the Wanderer, steps from the painting to keep Levi from destroying his work before the Nazis can. Newsreel footage and footage from earlier period films is used to review Jewish hardship and perserverance throughout the centuries.
