These child survivors came to be known as the Buchenwald Boys, a group of friends who drink hard, argue with gusto, sustain one another, and dance to live. The film documents their struggles, their humor, and ultimately the tenacity of their human spirit in the aftermath of unimaginable tragedy. Four of the men, Szaja Chaskiel, Sam Michalowicz, Henry Salter, and Joe Szwarcberg, now in their seventies and eighties, share stories from before and after their liberation, revealing memories of childhood homes, the last moments with murdered parents, surviving Nazi ghettos, camps and death marches, and their emigration to Australia. In 2006 they held the 60th anniversary Buchenwald Ball. 521 Not rated. 538 DVD, Region 4, PAL. 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 610 20 Buchenwald (Concentration camp) 650 0 Holocaust survivors |zAustralia. 650 0 Holocaust survivors |zGermany. 655 7 Documentary television programs. |2lcgft 655 7 Nonfiction television programs. |2lcgft 655 7 Video recordings. |2lcgft 700 1 Wiseman, Andrew. 700 1 Ben-Moshe, Danny. 700 1 Mizrahi, Uri. 710 2 National Center for Jewish Film. 710 2 Film Finance Corporation Australia. 710 2 Pericles Film Productions. 710 2 Special Broadcasting Service (Australia) 710 1 South Australia. |bDepartment for Education and Children's Services. 994 C0 |bLHM 852 8 |bdvd |hDVD-0296 |zFiled by number.
