For my son - in 360° / directors, Chris Temple & Zach Ingrasci ; producer, RYOT ; co-producers, 1001 Media & Living on One
Firas is one of millions of Syrians who have been forced to flee their homes and the country's seemingly endless civil war. The 27-year-old grew up in the southern city of Daraa, and sent his family to Jordan after his parents' home was burned down. Thirteen days later, he was shot in the leg and required medical attention. Firas followed his family to Jordan, reuniting with them at a refugee camp for Syrians called Za'atari on Dec. 6, 2012. He stayed there for 45 days, leaving shortly before Za'atari became the second largest refugee camp in the world. Firas moved with his family to the capital city of Amman, where he married his wife, whom he knew from his hometown in Syria. Their 2-year-old son, Mohamad, was born in Jordan and has never known Syria.
