A study of the Polish surname Jakóbowicz and variants Jakobowicz and Jakubowicz, which were common Jewish family names in the once very Jewish town of Kalisz in west-central Poland and across the country of Poland prior to the Holocaust of World War II. Examines the history of the extermination of many Polish Jews with this surname during the Holocaust, and the development of the variants of the name, in Poland and the United States.
