The whole is a testament to the human spirit. For eighteen months from late 1943, Vidal's parents lay in a small hole in the ground under a wood cutting machine in the backyard workshop of a retired Polish policeman in a suburb of occupied Warsaw. In claustrophobic dark, they waited while outside a world war raged. Their story is inspirational; it begins with life in Warsaw in loving families, transcends the catastrophic circumstances in which they meet, fall in love, are witness to the destruction of a way of life and the murder of their entire families, endure entombment, and concludes with liberation, and immigration to make a new life. 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 600 10 Heber, Bella, |d1923- 600 10 Heber, Chaim, |d1922-1999. 650 0 Jews |zPoland |zWarsaw |vBiography. 650 0 Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) |zPoland |zWarsaw |vPersonal narratives. 650 0 Holocaust survivors |zAustralia |vBiography. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xRefugees. 655 7 Biographies. |2lcgft 655 7 Personal narratives. |2lcgft 856 40 |3Author Biography. |zHosted by USHMM |uhttps://digitalarchive-assets.ushmm.org/pdf/bib261856_000_002.pdf 856 40 |3Blurb |zHosted by USHMM |uhttps://digitalarchive-assets.ushmm.org/pdf/bib261856_000_001.pdf 856 40 |3Sample Text |zHosted by Internet Archive |uhttps://archive.org/details/bib261856_001_001 956 40 |uhttp://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib261856/bib261856_001_001.pdf |3Full Text |zHosted by USHMM. 852 0 |bstacks |hDS134.7 |i.H43 2017 852 0 |bscstacks |hDS134.7 |i.H43 2017 |tc. 2 852 |bebook
