My struggles 1939-1945 under the German occupation of Poland / Freda Hoffman Zgodzinski.
Memoirs of a Polish Jewish woman who survived the war in Warsaw by passing as an Aryan with the help of Polish friends. Describes the brutality of the Germans towards the Jews during the occupation. When the Germans chased the Polish population out of Warsaw after the Polish uprising in 1944, she escaped from the Pruszków detention camp and found work as a farm laborer. Describes the behavior of Poles towards Jews after the Soviet forces drove out the Germans: terrible or sickly-sweet, depending on the circumstances.
