After considering the Jewish and philosophical presuppositions of Fackenheim's work, the author attempts to re-cast the idea of the rupture of the Holocaust into a Christian theological idiom, concerned to both adequately receive, and critically assesses Fackenheim's proposal. Based on a number of points of contact both philosophical and theological, the author finds in the thought of the protestant theologian Eberhard Jungel valuable conceptual resources to effect this re-casting. In conclusion, a number of proposals regarding the Christian theological response to the Holocaust are drawn. 530 Electronic version(s) |bavailable internally at USHMM. 533 Photocopy. |bAnn Arbor, Mich. : |cUMI Dissertation Services, |d1997. |e29 cm. 590 Dissertations and Theses 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 650 0 Holocaust (Christian theology) 600 10 Fackenheim, Emil L. |tTo mend the world. 600 10 Jüngel, Eberhard |xCriticism and interpretation. 956 41 |u http://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib27700/MM05898.pdf |z Hosted by USHMM. 852 0 |bstacks |hBT93 .Z544 1995 852 |bebook
