Two distinct indicators of genocide are employed as the dependent variable; the independent variables include international and civil war experience, economic development, level of democracy, number of politicized communal groups, size of population, and proportion of population of politicized communal groups. Ordinary Least Squares regression and Logit are performed on the pooled cross-sectional time series data covering 123 countries over an eight year period. Strong support is provided for the hypothesized relationships between genocide and both international war experience and economic development while moderate support is provided for civil war experience and the proportion of the population of politicized communal groups. 530 Electronic version(s) |bavailable internally at USHMM. 533 Photocopy. |bAnn Arbor, Mich. : |cUMI Dissertation Services, |d1997. |e22 cm. 590 Dissertations and Theses 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 650 0 Genocide |vStatistics. 655 7 Statistics. |2lcgft 956 41 |u http://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib27743/1379142.pdf |z Hosted by USHMM. 852 0 |bstacks |hHV6322.7 .F73 1996 852 |bebook
