When the Nazis invade Hungary in 1944, Judy and her family are placed in a ghetto and then deported to Auschwtiz-Birkenau. There she survives with the support of her sisters and other women in the camps. She is then sent to Bergen-Belsen and then Ascherlseben, a sub camp of Buchenwald, where she does forced labour in a Junkers airplane parts factory. Judy survives a death march and is liberated by the US Army. After the war, she reunites with two of her siblings in the Bergen-Belsen DP camp, after which she makes her way to Montreal as a seamstress with the Tailor Project. Judy marries, moves to Toronto and raises a family and then becomes involved in Holocaust education, specifically in the realm of gender studies and the Holocaust, launching a website about women's experiences in the Holocaust."-- |cProvided by publisher. 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 600 10 Cohen, Judy Weissenberg, |d1928- 650 0 Jewish women |zHungary |vBiography. 650 0 Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) |vPersonal narratives. 650 0 Women Nazi concentration camp inmates |vBiography. 650 0 Jews |zHungary |vBiography. 650 0 Holocaust survivors |zCanada |vBiography. 650 7 Holocaust survivors. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00958838 650 7 Jewish women. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00983062 650 7 Jews. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00983135 651 7 Canada. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01204310 651 7 Hungary. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01205132 600 17 Cohen, Judy Weissenberg, |d1928- |2nli 650 7 Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) |zHungary |vPersonal narratives. |2nli 650 7 Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) |vPersonal narratives. |2nli 650 7 Jewish women |zHungary |vBiography. |2nli 650 7 Jewish women |zCanada |vBiography. |2nli 650 7 Jews |zHungary |vBiography. |2nli 650 7 Jews |zCanada |vBiography. |2nli 650 7 Holocaust survivors |zCanada |vBiography. |2nli 647 7 Jewish Holocaust |d(1939-1945) |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00958866 648 7 1939-1945 |2fast 655 7 Biographies. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01919896 655 7 Autobiographies. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01919894 655 7 Personal narratives. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01423843 655 7 Autobiographies. |2lcgft 655 7 Personal narratives. |2lcgft 710 2 Azrieli Foundation, |epublisher. 830 0 Azrieli series of Holocaust survivor memoirs. 852 0 |bscstacks |hDS135.H93 |iC64 2020
