Sexual encounters frequently took place, however. Some were consensual, while others were characterised by brutal violence, and women often sold their bodies as a means of survival. The army and SS constructed purpose-built brothels for their soldiers, but also banned and frequently punished loving relationships. In Wartime Relations, Historian Maren Röger gives a powerful account of these encounters and describes the actions of the army and the SS in regulating relations between soldiers and civilian women. Röger provides new and important insights into everyday life during the occupation, Nazi racial policy, and the fates of the women involved"--Provided by publisher. 546 Translated from the German. 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 650 0 Prostitution |zPoland |xHistory |y20th century. 650 0 Man-woman relationships |zPoland |xHistory |y20th century. 650 0 Sex crimes |zPoland |xHistory |y20th century. 650 0 National socialism and sex |zPoland. 650 0 National socialism and women |zPoland. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xWomen |xAbuse of |zPoland. 651 0 Poland |xHistory |yOccupation, 1939-1945. 650 6 Femmes de réconfort |0(CaQQLa)201-0246224 |zPologne |0(CaQQLa)201-0494059 |xHistoire |y20e siècle. |0(CaQQLa)201-0378892 650 6 Guerre mondiale, 1939-1945 |xFemmes |0(CaQQLa)201-0056521 |zPologne. |0(CaQQLa)201-0494059 650 6 Guerre mondiale, 1939-1945 |xFemmes |0(CaQQLa)201-0056521 |xViolence envers |0(CaQQLa)000288502 |zPologne. |0(CaQQLa)201-0494059 650 7 Female prostitution. |2homoit 650 7 Prostitution. |2homoit 650 7 Sexual violence. |2homoit 700 1 Ward, Rachel, |etranslator. 758 |ihas work:Wartime relations (Text) |1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PCGpD6RrpMp46BB9VpwxjQ3 |4https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ontology/hasWork 856 41 |3Electronic version(s) available |uhttps://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/ushmm/detail.action?docID=6409663 |zHosted by ProQuest 852 0 |bstacks |hHQ217.7.A5 |iR6413 2021 852 |bebook
