This was related to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Chiune Sugihara - the Japanese consul in Lithuania in 1939-1940 - who, by issuing Japanese transit visas, contributed to saving the lives of several thousand Jews, most of them Polish refugees from the occupied country.--
