The German and Italian forces had an interest in music, partly for its propaganda potential. Inflation, hunger, and the Greek resistance, restricted their cultural activities to the organization of performances for soldiers and members of the Axis-community, and the arrangement of a few guest appearances of German or Italian musicians. German support prevented the collapse of the two Athenian orchestras for financial reasons. Weekly concerts were well attended. The situation of these years was reflected in some Greek compositions, and above all in the revues. 530 Electronic version(s) |bavailable internally at USHMM. 533 Photocopy. |bAnn Arbor, Mich. : |cUMI Dissertation Services, |d1998. |e23 cm. 590 Dissertations and Theses 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 650 0 Music |zGreece |zAthens |y20th century |xHistory and criticism. 651 0 Greece |xHistory |yOccupation, 1941-1944. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |zGreece |zAthens. 956 41 |u http://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib40202/1331960.pdf |z Hosted by USHMM. 994 E0 |bLHM 852 0 |bstacks |hML254.5 .L56 1987 852 |bebook
