520     The adaptation of three existing means of evaluating Holocaust curriculum, along with the teaching experience of the author is combined to create a new evaluation tool based upon rationale, content, and methodology. This work evaluates three state-sponsored Holocaust curricula, Washington, Ohio, and South Carolina, using this evaluation tool. Chapter One is an introduction to Holocaust Studies and the rationale for this work. Chapter Two covers the evaluation tool. Chapters Three through Five cover the three state-sponsored Holocaust curricula. The final conclusions are examined in Chapter Six. The Ohio and South Carolina curricula are adequate, with minor amendments, to be implemented into a secondary level class and to effectively educate students on the history of the Holocaust. The Washington curriculum would need major revision before being truly useful to educators. All three are lacking sufficient means to make the material relevant to students and enough instructional direction for teachers.
