It chronicles the couriers' roots in the Jewish youth organizations before the war and then their accomplishments in the Jewish Underground during the German occupation. The couriers were essential to the success of the Jewish Fighting Organization, which had branches throughout Poland. Traveling extensively, the couriers smuggled documents, money and guns and were eyewitnesses to the liquidations of Jewish communities. The content of this study was primarily drawn from the memoirs of couriers and also from a variety of other secondary sources. 530 Electronic version(s) |bavailable internally at USHMM. 533 Photocopy. |bAnn Arbor, Mich. : |cUMI Dissertation Services, |d2003. |e22 cm. 590 Dissertations and Theses 591 Record updated by Marcive processing 21 June 2024 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xJewish resistance |zPoland. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xParticipation, Female. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xUnderground movements |zPoland. 856 41 |uhttp://proquest.umi.com/pqdweb?did=727352731&sid=11&Fmt=6&clientId=54617&RQT=309&VName=PQD |zElectronic version from ProQuest 956 41 |u http://dc.ushmm.org/library/bib81104/1406778.pdf |z Hosted by USHMM. 994 X0 |bLHM 852 0 |bstacks |hD810.J4 |iG557 2001 852 |bwww 852 0 |bebook
