Mrs. B. relates stories of the children undergoing individual psychological treatment; the effects of concentration camps on children; their hoarding of food and food fights; language difficulties; sleep disturbances and night horrors; individual fears related to their experiences; the effect of separation from their families; visits from potential American foster parents; unsuccessful adoption attempts; and exceptionally close bonds among the children.
