He recalls living in Lida, Belarus; participating in Maccabi; working in his family's fur business; marriage in 1939; ghettoization; escaping with his wife from a mass shooting to a forest on May 8, 1942 (fifty relatives including his two children were killed); being hidden by hunters who had done business with his family; obtaining a gun from them; trying to help others escape; joining partisans who were escaped Soviet POWs; assisting women and children in the Bielski brigade; liberation by Soviet troops in 1944; joining the Soviet military; liberating Warsaw and Łódź; reunion with his wife in Lublin; traveling to Italy with other survivors; living on a kibbutz for four years; and emigration to join relatives in the United States.
