In addition to information included in a subsequently recorded testimony (HVT-232), Mr. K. recounts attending cheder and yeshiva; antisemitic harassment before the war; his father's death in the Pruz︠h︡any ghetto; deportation to Auschwitz/Birkenau; remaining with his brothers; his brothers' transfer to another work kommando (they both died a few weeks later); working with a cousin in a leather factory; hospitalization after Allied bombings (he lost an eye); “stealing” shoes from the factory to trade for food; slave labor in Melk; his cousin's death two days before liberation; traveling to Linz, Salzburg, Bolzano, and Verona; preparing for emigration to Palestine; living in Bari displaced persons camp; emigration to the United States via Venezuela and Cuba to join relatives; attending a survivor gathering in Jerusalem; and contact with an Ebensee liberator.
