She describes her family's affluence; their charity; cordial relations with non-Jews; hearing rumors of ghettos and camps in Poland; Hungarian occupation; anti-Jewish measures; ghettoization; deportation to Auschwitz; separation from her family; her twin sisters' selection for medical experiments; one twin bringing bread to her; selection for gassing; being removed from the selected group (she never knew why); slave labor; transfer to the Zigeunerlager (Gypsy Lager); the death march to another camp in January 1945; liberation by Soviet troops; Soviet troops raping her and others; fleeing from the Soviets; returning home with assistance from the Joint; reunion with her sister-in-law; learning her twin sisters had survived; their return; illegally leaving with assistance from Zionist organizations; internment in Cyprus by the British in 1947; emigration to Israel after statehood; and emigration to Canada, then the United States twenty-three years later.
