She recounts her family's affluence and Zionism; German invasion; anti-Jewish restrictions including wearing an armband and expulsion from school; ghettoization two years later; deportations including her grandparents; continuing to study despite the hardships; a mass killing of children including many of her friends; her father obtaining forged American citizenship papers; imprisonment; deportation with her family, her father's siblings, and their families to Bergen-Belsen; placement in a section for foreigners; organized study groups; learning Hebrew and dancing; celebrating Hanukkah and Passover; and liberation from a train transport by United States troops.
