05:18:52 (Munich 56) War Crimes Trials (Borkum Island), Ludwigsburg, Germany, March 12, 1946 (silent). AVs, castle in Ludwigsburg where the trials are being held. POWs who had escaped were not taken back to the camp but were retained by the police, according to the witness.

MLS, US prosecutors at table. Maxwell-Fyfe reading from document, "where the Jews were left to themselves, as for instance in Poland, the most terrible misery and decay prevailed. They are just pure parasites. In Poland this state of affairs had been fundamentally cleared up. If the Jews there did not want to work they were shot, and if they could not work they had to succumb." When asked about the treatment of Jews, Goering said initially (when Hitler came to power) Jews only had to leave official leading civil positions and political positions etc., prosecutor says that's not what he asked. Goering does not appear onscreen during this segment. Only his voice is heard. The camera is focused on Maxwell-Fyfe and the judges.

HAS, CUs, Tribunal and Justice Lawrence as he tells the witness to first answer the question and then make any remarks he wishes. HAS, Jackson asks Goering the names of men who were more radical than himself on "Jew-baiting." Goering admits signing the decree that fined Jews a billion marks and the necessity of "the law asking authorities for permission before disposing of Jewish property." MS, Thomas J. Dodd at the prosecution table. Goering does not appear in this segment. Only his voice his heard.
