    Image

    Overview

    Description
17:33 Cerdini presents Streim with four documents previously presented to the court, relating to the UGIF and Izieu raids, and asks his professional opinion as to their authenticity. He replies that he has previously studied copies of these documents, and these originals are indeed authentic; comments on the February 11 Telex

17:43 Cerdini asks Streim to evaluate Barbie's signatures on the documents, and whether the presence of his signature makes him responsible for their contents

17:47 Cerdini asks whether, in Streim's opinion given the documents in hand, the Izieu and UGIF raids were the result of an order from the RHSA in Paris, or the result of a local (Lyon) initiative; Streim replies that he believes they were local initiatives, due to particularities in the Izieu Telex

17:48 A prosecution attorney asks whether the witness is able to return to court the next day, so that he can be asked questions in conjunction with another attorney; Streim agrees

17:49 Civil parties' legal representatives Feder and Klarsfeld question the witness; Klarsfeld asks the witness to compare the Izieu Telex to another Telex sent the same day, from Marseille, in order to assure the Izieu Telex' authenticity

17:58 Defense attorney Vergès questions the witness; questions the value of photocopies as evidence in a court case; questions the witness' assurance that there was no order from Paris to execute the Izieu and UGIF raids; asks the witness how, if there was no order from highers-up, members of the 958th Flak Battalion helped to undertake the Izieu raid

18:12 Prosecution attorney Klarsfeld asks the witness to clarify a German word, meaning 'without order,' appearing on some of the documents

    18:15 Cerdini calls a recess
