    Brief Narrative
    Occupation currency note, valued at 500 kronen, issued in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1942. The Germans occupied these Czech provinces in 1939, and created the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia as part of the Greater German Reich. The Czech garrison town of Theresienstadt (Terezin) was located within the Protectorate near the extended German border.

    Rectangular offwhite paper currency. Face has a thick black geometric border with the numeric denomination in the top and bottom right corners. Inside the left border is a medallion design in black, pink, purple, and orange, with 500 in the center. Over the medallion is black text in German and Czech. To the right is a rectangular portrait image of a man, Peter Brandl, in a jacket and a hat. The numeric denomination is in the upper and bottom left outer corner; the denomination on the bottom left is within a geometric medallion. Above the denomination on the bottom left is the serial number in red ink. The back has a geometric border of orange, red, and green ink, and an inner border of black and green ink with the numeric and text denomination repeating within the borders on an orange and green geometric background. On the left side is a large medallion of orange, green, pink, brown and purple with the numeric denomination in the center. To the right is a red shield with a white lion facing right. Over the shield is black text in German and Czech. The numeric denomination is in orange ink within a medallion of orange and green in the lower right corner, outside the border. There are 2 lines of text, listing the denomination, in black and purple ink in the upper right outer corner.
