Short History of the Town Maniewicze

Booklet: Handmade; typed and written in Yiddish, titled "Short History of the Town Maniewicze" written by Zeev Wowa Werba in Millan, Italy in May 1948. In this booklet, Zeev Werba described the Jewish life in town, the Soviet occupation and the German occupation as of June 22, 1941. He described the first "Aktion" on August 26, 1941 during which the Germans executed 360 Jews. In September 1942, the day of the destruction of the Maniewicze Jews, the Germans murdered 2,000 Jews. A group of 70 young Jews managed to escape to the forest and formed a partisan unit. Zeev Werba attached a list of 189 survivors from Maniewicze and the vicinity.
