    Description
    Contains 322 post-war trials of defendants accused of Nazi war crimes. The trials took place in the Volksgericht Linz (People's Court in Linz), Austria from 1946 to 1955. These cases mostly relate to Jewish victims. Includes cases from Salzburg over which the Volksgericht Linz also had jurisdiction.

    Conditions on Access
    This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. Users are required to complete a User Declaration in order to gain access to the collection. User declarations are shared by USHMM with State Archives of Upper Austria. The USHMM Archives shall send once a year signed user declarations to the Oberösterreichisches Landesarchiv.
    Conditions on Use
    Use of archival material from the State Archives of Upper Austria is limited to personal or scholarly research or for research about the applicant’s family members. Transfer of the reproduced archival material to third parties is not permitted. Publication of archival material requires the written permission of the State Archives of Upper Austria. If permission is granted, the applicant agrees to cite original archival reference and name of source archive in all publications, personal data are to be published in anonymized form only, a copy of any publication in which archival material from the State Archives of Upper Austria was used shall be sent to the State Archives of Upper Austria free of charge.

    Provenance
    Records created by the People's Court in Linz, Austria, 1946-1955. The digitization of the post-war Linz court case files was done as a research and digitization project by the Zentrale österreichische Forschungsstelle Nachkriegsjustiz (Austrian Research Agency for Post-War Trials, FStN) with the financial support of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Museum acquired the collection from the Oberösterreichisches Landesarchiv (State Archives of Upper Austria). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received digitized collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in Dec. 2010.
