Chaim Kozienicki collection

Document | Accession Number: 2011.212.1

Contains an autograph book and loose documents, made and kept secretly by Estera Zalcberg (donor's late wife) in the Peterswaldau forced labor camp (a sub-camp of Gross Rosen) in 1944 and until liberation on May 8, 1945. Other entries were made in the children's home in Chorzów after the war. Estera was born February 20, 1928 in Janów near Czestochowa, and lived in Bedzin. Her two brother Shmuel and Israel survived the Holocaust, but her sister Tauba, brother Mordechai, and father Menachem Zalcberg all perished. Also includes an identification card issued in the Łódź ghetto Szulim Kozienicki (donor's father) on November 2, 1943. Szulim and Chaja Sara Kozienicki were murdered in Auschwitz Birkenau in August 1944.
