Kibel family collection
Consists of correspondence, Reisepasses (passports), and documentation related to the family of Robert and Therese Kibel originally of Vienna, Austria. Includes correspondence between Robert and Therese in Vienna and their sons, Otto, Fritz, and Walter, who escaped Austria in 1938 and emigrated to the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Palestine respectively. The correspondence begins in 1938 and ends in 1941 when Robert and Therese were deported from Vienna to the Opole ghetto; they perished in the Holocaust. Also includes pre-war and wartime documentation, including immigration documents, with the bulk of the material related to Fritz Kibel, who married Mathilde Pollaczek Kibel in Argentina. Includes additional material related to the Holocaust experiences of the Pollaczek family, originally of Berlin, Germany; while Mathilde was able to immigrate, her mother, Louise Schmelzer, and sister, Rosa Pollaczek, perished at Chelmno.
