Oral history interview with Evgeny Rtistshev

Evgeniy Ivanovich Rtishchev, born in 1927 in Mostovskoy in the former Soviet Union, describes the Jewish refugees from the Ukraine who arrived prior to the German occupation; a Jewish family who lived in his building for about a month; witnessing the murder of a partisan member; watching approximately 30 Jewish men, women, and children being loaded into a wagon guarded by two armed German soldiers; following the wagon to the Laba River; watching from a nearby knoll as some Jews were handed shovels and ordered to dig a pit; hearing someone shout a warning in Russian, then watching as the two German soldiers shot all the Jews with automatic rifles; and the burial of the bodies in the pit.
