Janina Damaševičienė, born in Trakiškes, Lithuania (present day Trakiszki, Poland) in1922, discusses the roundup and imprisonment of the entire district’s Jewish community; Soviet prisoners of war digging burial pits under direction from Lithuanian collaborators (Baltaraiščiai or White Stripers); witnessing the killing of Jewish children first; details of the killing process; and rumors that the victims had thrown gold jewelry into the river.
