- Collection contents include two black and white photographs of the donor's grandparents, circa 1928, in Kraków, Poland; a memoir entitled "The Brand's of Krakow" which describes Gartenberg's grandmother's apartment and Gartenberg's relationship with her grandmother; a memoir entitled "Schtetl sic Brzozów near Sanok, Poland" describes Gartenberg's relationship with her grandfather and the town of Brzozów; and an announcement from the Jewish Forum Foundation in Poland regarding Jewish ancestry. Gartenberg's grandparents were killed by the Nazis in 1942.

Contains donor's handwritten memoir in which she describes pre-World War II life in Lʹviv, Ukraine, (a.k.a. Lʹvov or Lwów, Poland); conditions in the Lʹviv ghetto; the deaths of her parents and brother in Janowska concentration camp; her survival in hiding first with a Catholic family and later with relatives; her postwar return to Poland; and her emigration to England in 1946 and to the United States in 1954.
