    Description
    Consists of a copy of a brief survivor testimony written by Linda Breder (Libusha Reich) during the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors in April 1983. The testimony describes Breder's deportation to Auschwitz, her participation in the "Kanada" kommando, her witness to the sabotage of the Birkenau crematoria, and her subsequent incarceration in Rechlin, a subcamp of Ravensbrück. Also included is an abstract of the testimony written in English.

    Biography
    Linda Breder was born Libusha Reich on 24 February 1924 in Stropkov, Czechoslovakia (Stropkov, Slovakia) to Fany and Henrik Reich. She had three brothers and one sister. Her family was deported to Auschwitz in March 1942. In January 1945 she was sent on a death march to Ravensbrück. She was liberated on 5 May 1945 from the Rechlin subcamp. Her sister was the only member of her immediate family to survive the Holocaust. After returning to Stropkov she met and married fellow Auschwitz survivor Friedrich Reich. They had two children and immigrated to the United States in 1966.

    The testimony was written in Apr. 1983 during the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors in Washington, D.C. A copy of the Czech-language testimony and an English-language abstract were donated to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives during Apr. 1983.
