    Contains various documents of the record group Przełożony Starszeństwa Żydow w Getcie Łódzkim, 1939-1944. Consists predominantly of the records of Chaim Mordechai Rumkowski, the Eldest of the Jews in the ghetto in Łódź, Poland, and of his administration. Included are letters, announcements, circulars, charts, publications, reports, essays, name lists, and photographs.

    The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved in the microfilmed reels. Arrangement is alphabetical and chronological. Alphabetical cards of employees are microfilmed at the end of the collection (Reels 673-696). Files organized as follow: File 1-2467; Reels 1-328; Reel 329 organized in subgroups: 329/1-329/11; 330-696. File 1011, containing alphabetical information cards of employees, microfilmed at the end of the collection (Reels 673-696)

    This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. No other access restrictions apply to this material.
    Conditions on Use
    Reproduction of more than 100 pages of copies of documents for researchers or other institutions requires a written permission of the General Director of the State Archives of the Republic of Poland. Publication of more than 10 complete documents in an individual work requires the written authorization of the General Director.     Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Łodzi (Polish States Archives in Łódź), Record group: Przełożony Starszeństwa Żydow w Getcie Łódzkim; File 1-21105. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the first part of the the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in June 2000, and several subsequent accretions between 2001 and 2007.
