Oral history interview with Jaroslav Samek

Jaroslav Samek, born in 1922 in Telc, Czechoslovakia, describes the prewar Jewish community of Telc; the arrival of German forces in 1939; his work as a translator during the war; restrictions placed upon the Jewish and Czech communities during occupation; the deportation of the Jewish community in 1942, including his German tutor; the confiscation and sale of Jewish owned property and homes by German forces; the arrest of Czech civilians; his father's arrest in 1944 for giving money and food to the families of individuals who had been arrested; and the return of very few Jews after the war.
