    Interview Summary
    Stefanie Sucher discusses her early childhood in Reichstadt, Germany; her assimilated German upbringing; the changes that she and her family experienced after 1933, including the closure of her mother's school; their move to Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland), and the increased antisemitism they experienced; living near the main offices for the antisemitic newspaper Der Sturmer and how she felt when she walked by the antisemitic images displayed on the building; her experiences during this period and during Kristallnacht in November 1938; the harassment her family experienced in the aftermath; her marriage in January 1939; her husband's departure for the United States; her decision to flee to England; her sister's acceptance into the Kindertransport, and their departure in March 1939; the work she performed as a domestic worker, the help she received from people at the Bloomsbury House, and her journey to New York on the ship RMS Aquitania; her reunion with her husband; their experiences in New York; the work she performed in a garment factory; her move with her husband to California; their children and her life during and after the war; and her sister's experiences on the trip to England, in the children's home in London, and her work with the United States Army towards the end of the war.
