Oral history interview with Henry Small

The interview describes Mr. Small's childhood and young adulthood in Berlin, German; his experiences with antisemitic violence in Berlin after the Nazi regime rose to power; and his immigration to the United States in May 1938. Mr. Small describes his service in the United States Army, and his participation in fighting in Africa and the Utah Beach invasion in Normandy. He discusses learning of his father's death at the hands of a Nazi in a Berlin jail; his return trip to Berlin in 1961, and his marriage and life in Kansas City and San Francisco.
