    Hans Roenau discusses his childhood in Vienna, Austria; his family's decision to immigrate to Shanghai, China in 1938; his education and experiences there; the work he performed as a translator in his father's print shop; leaving China in 1949 and returning to Vienna, where he studied graphic design; his decision to immigrate to the United States with his wife in 1954; their life in the San Francisco Bay Area; his work in the printing industry.
