Edith Kramer Freund memoirs
Contains two memoirs titled,"Journey to Freedom : From prisoner in Theresienstadt to refugee in Switzerland and"As a Doctor in Theresienstadt." The first,"Journey to Freedom," is a typescript English translation from the Frankfurt Tribune in 1985, that describes Kramer's incarceration in Theresienstadt where she provided medical care to fellow prisoners; her transport to Switzerland in February 1945, under a special arrangement between the Nazis and the Swiss; her subsequent friendship with Hermann Hesse and his wife; and her emigration to Australia. The second memoir titled,"As a Doctor in Theresienstadt," relates her experiences as a Jewish doctor sent from Germany to Poland, where she assisted inmates in Fort Radziwell and Antoninek, her subsequent deportation to Theresienstadt, and her experiences there, including rendering medical assistance to inmates.
