Ralph Cole discusses his childhood in Hawaii; his enlistment in the United States Army in 1942; his assignment with the 89th Infantry Artillery Division of the Third Army; his service during World War II; his experiences during the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp; the horrible conditions he encountered; the lasting effect his war-time experiences had on him; and the difficulty he finds speaking about these events.
