The Mother's Cross was instituted by the Nazi Party in 1938. It was first awarded in 1939 to some 3 million mothers as a propaganda measure to promote National Socialist population policy.

The collection consists of a Mother's Cross medal with its envelope and documentation, a medal instituted and issued during the government of the Third Reich in Germany, 1933-1945.
Envelope is square beige paper with black text, "Ehrenkreuzes der Deutschen Mutter, Dritte Stufe." Rectangular paper document with type written text, red and purple stamps and signature in black ink; dated 24 Marz 1944 from the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. Third document is a certificate printed in black text, type written name (Ottilia Breidler) and ink signatures or stamps for the Ehrenkreuzes der Deutschen Mutter; dated 1 Oktober 1939.
